Why Do My LED Lights Flicker?

Dimmer incompatibility: Old dimmers weren’t designed for LEDs. Swap to an LED-compatible (trailing-edge) dimmer.

Cheap bulbs: Some budget LEDs flicker on dimmers. Try a known-good brand (Philips, GE, etc.).

Loose connection: Check bulb is seated, and the fixture wiring is tight.

Voltage fluctuation: Large appliances (AC, fridge) can cause brief flicker. Usually harmless.

LED Buzzing on Dimmer

Same root cause as flicker: dimmer and LED don’t play well. Fix: LED-compatible dimmer + dimmable LED.

Trailing-edge dimmers are usually quieter than leading-edge for LEDs.

LED Not Turning Off Completely (Ghosting)

Cause: Tiny current leaking through the circuit—e.g. illuminated switch, smart switch in standby.

Fix: Add a bypass capacitor or use a “ghost load” bulb in the circuit. Or switch to a compatible dimmer/switch.
