Chandeliers, pendants, recessed, track, sconces. Sizing, height, and where each works best.
Pendant: Single (or few) suspended lights. Kitchen islands, dining tables, entryways.
Chandelier: Multi-arm, often decorative. Dining rooms, foyers, bedrooms.
Sizing: Diameter in cm ≈ (room length + width in m) × 5. E.g. 4m × 5m → 45cm. Hang 75–90cm above table or island.
Spacing: 1–1.2m apart for 6" cans. Ceiling height ÷ 2 = max spacing.
Beam angle: 60° for general; 90–120° for wide wash.
IC vs non-IC: IC = can touch insulation. Non-IC needs clearance. Check your ceiling.
Hallways: 1.5–1.7m from floor. Space 2–3m apart.
Bathroom: Eye level, 1.6–1.7m. Or 75–80cm above vanity.
Bedroom: Either side of bed, 1.2–1.5m from floor. Or above bedside tables.
Flush: Flat to ceiling. Low ceilings, hallways, closets.
Semi-flush: Drops 15–30cm. More presence, still compact. Good for 2.4–2.7m ceilings.
